  28. Face it, MUI uses up 300k to 450k of RAM just for its own libraries and
  29. gadgets - over 25% of the available RAM on a base A1200 - hardly what you
  30. could call 'efficient' for what is purely a GUI.

  32. (Or, to put it another way, MUI takes more to simply render a GUI than an
  33. FTP program or a web browser!!  How much more reason do you need to
  34. understand why so many people dislike the gratuitous use of MUI?)

  38. Indeed.  But that is no reason to rely upon a bloated GUI that is SLOW and
  39. MEMORY-HUNGRY on the standard Amiga ("Meg RAM '020).

  43. Your system is fast by comparison to the STANDARD Amiga (and compared to the
  44. next version, too), so of course it should be fast (although I find it is
  45. still slow on my A4000/40, I'm afraid - an unacceptible delay before
  46. redrawing when simply resizing a window, for example).

  48. You might call 300k toi 450k or RAM 'not much', but I would hardly call it
  49. 'not much' personally, not for a bloody GUI.

  55. to take into account (on 3 progs, that is STILL over 100k EACH in effect...)

  61. Probably not, but it does mean that people will not be FORCED to install the
  62. bloated MUI on their machines just to use Miami.  If it is just for such a
  63. small part of the program, then why inflict MUIupon us in the first place?

  77. Bollocks.  Whenever someone posts a complaint against MUI, the 'MUI-lovers'
  78. start flaming 'you only hate MUI because it is MUI' and then totally ignore
  79. or deny the complaints.  Try reading what others write, then you might
  80. understand why many dislike MUI - you may not agree with them, but at least
  81. you will be able to understand and even counter their arguments with more
  82. than just "you hate it just because it is MUI".
